How is the site organised?

The site's three major points of access and activity are "Latest News", "Latest Publications" and "Latest Events". Following is a brief description of each of these functions, after which there is a brief description of other features of the site and some tips on how to use it.

Latest News is the most active section of the site. The site program only allows for the five very latest "Latest News" items to appear on the Home Page, and the fifth item is ALWAYS "New Evatt papers Online". To see ALL the "Evatt News" items, indexed by the month in which they were posted, you can either click on "Evatt News" on the sidebar on the left-hand side of the Home Page, or click "[more news]" at the bottom right hand side of the "Latest News" section. After taking either of these routes, you can then scroll down the "Introduction to Evatt News" page until you come to the item you are looking for.

Note that the fifth item under "Latest News" - which, as just mentioned, is always "New Evatt Papers Online" - does not feature either all the "Evatt News" items or all the Evatt Foundation's papers. This item only aims to highlight a range of the Foundation's most recent, and most significant and most popular, papers and contributors on the Home Page (which naturally enough is the most visited page on the site). If you click on "[Full Story]" at the end of this item, you will be taken to the "New Evatt Papers Online" page that supplies short introductions and links to the full papers, including many papers that are not listed in the highlights that appear on the Home Page.

Again, note that the "New Evatt Papers Online" page does NOT include all the Evatt Foundation's papers, only our most significant, most substantial and most popular papers. If the article you are looking for was solely posted as a news item, you will have to click on "Evatt News" or "[more news]" and scroll down the "Introduction to Evatt News" page to find it (see the above paragraph), or alternatively you will have to go to publications (see the next paragraph).

Latest Publications is also a very active section of the site, and contains items and information on our books and other Evatt publications. Again, it is important to appreciate that the Home Page can only list four of the items in the "Latest Publications" section, all of which are always only about the Evatt Foundation's books and other publications. If you wish to see ALL the Foundation's publications, and all the major papers, click on "[more publications]" at the bottom of the "Latest Publications" section. This will take you to our "Publications" index page that, firstly, lists all the Foundation's books and other publications and, secondly, all the site's major papers. Both lists are in date order, and you can scroll down to find what you are looking for. To see these lists separately, click on "Books" or "Papers" on the left-hand side bar of the Home Page.

Evatt Events are constantly updated, and events are removed as their date passes.

Other site features include the "Letters" page and the "Order Form" page, which are self-explanatory, and the "Archives". The Archives contains background and historical information etc on the Foundation's State of the States series, which can be accessed from the Home Page. Also stored in our Archives are items that can only be accessed fom particular pages. We have, for example, a range of images from the Mary Alice Evatt 'Mas' 1898-1973 Exhibition stored in our Archives, but you will only be able to find the links to these images if you go to one of the pages that relates to the exhibition (for example, if you go to 'Mas': A memoir, by Rosalind Carrodus, you will find links to the images stored in our Archives at the bottom of the page, underneath the article).

Some tips about using the site, and particularly about finding something that someone has told you about but you have no idea about where to look, are:

firstly, try going to "Evatt News" through the left-hand sidebar on the Home Page and scrolling down to see if the paper you are looking for is there;
secondly, try going to "Papers", which is underneath "Publications" on the left-hand sidebar on the Home Page, and again scroll down to see if your item is there;
thirdly, if you still haven't found what you're looking for, go back to "Evatt News" and scroll down to the varous issues of the Evatt Newsletter, which is usually issued once a month and contains links to all the items added to the site since the previous Evatt Newsletter;
fourthly, remember there is a Keyword search facility on the top left-hand side.

Finally, if all this fails, let us know through our feedback facility.
