Events

Evatt Breakfast Seminar: Australia's retreat from egalitarianism

Australia is in the throes of a major re-evaluation of its egalitarian values, as we steadily turn our backs on social norms we once considered untouchable. In a very special seminar, the Evatt Foundation proudly presents Frank Stilwell, Fred Argy and Hugh Stretton talking about equality. You are unlikely to ever have another opportunity to hear these three distinguished economists discuss this topic together. It's happening in Sydney on 8 July.

The theme is social inclusion and this is your only other opportunity to hear keynote speaker Hugh Stretton on his visit to Sydney, along with everybody else in the social policy field.

Toward a science of wellbeing

2002 Nobel economics laureate, Daniel Kahneman, will give a public lecture on wellbeing at UNSW on 14 July. The 2001 Nobel prize winner, Joseph Stiglitz, says Kahneman has shown "not only that individuals sometimes act differently than standard economic theories predict, but that they do so regularly, systematically, and in ways that can be understood and interpreted through alternative hypotheses."
